Lucky Black Kitten Crossed Paths With Famous Cat Rescuer

Black Kitten

That would be because these two took their “crossed paths” off-road and into what was basically a roadside jungle.

When he finally replied to my text, it was like many others I’ve received in the past. Luckily, he shared the full details from his adventurous evening on his Facebook page later. (Yes, Chris is wearing my pink Chicago Cubs hat in his profile photo on my phone LOL)

Black Kitten

” It was like looking for a needle in a haystack and the constant noise of passing traffic made it very difficult to hear any teeny meows. I decided to take a break and go back that night. After 3 hours of searching, I could only hear the kitten. But every time I took a few steps, hoping it might be so scared/tired/hungry, it would give in and come closer. It didn’t. “

Black Kitten

” So when my flashlight battery died, I admitted defeat. I knew deep down it wasn’t going to be a success if I continued. No matter how many kitten noises I made or mama cat calling kittens videos I played on YouTube, the kitten was freaked out by this big “predator” that was trying to get him. “

Black Kitten

But Chris had another plan and wasn’t going to give up on the kitten now. Honestly, I think it hit him on a personal level too. It’s almost Halloween and the reason we began making cat videos in the first placewas because of our beloved black kitten, Cole. When he was found, shelters refused to take him in because he was so small and had black fur. Black cats and dogs in shelters are usually the first to be euthanized and the last to be adopted–all because of unlucky stigmas related to their fur. If we hadn’t adopted him, there’s no telling what Florida streets he’d have ended up on.

Tesla Cybertruck reservations hit 146,000

tesla

has received 146,000 reservations to order the Tesla Cybertruck, pulling in some $14.6 million in deposits just two days after the company’s CEO Elon Musk unveiled the futuristic and angled vehicle.

Reservations require a $100 refundable deposit. How many of those deposits will convert to actual orders for the truck, which is currently priced between $39,900 and $69,900, is impossible to predict. And there will likely be plenty of speculation over the next two years. Production of the tri-motor variant of the cybertruck is expected to begin in late 2022, Tesla said.

[show_more more=”Continue_Reading…”]

Musk tweeted Saturday that 146,000 Cybertruck orders have been made so far. Of those, 41% picked the most expensive tri-motor option and 42% of future customers chose the dual motor version. The remaining 17% picked the cheapest single-motor model.

The Tesla Cybertruck, which Musk unveiled in dramatic fashion at the Tesla Design Center in Hawthorne, Calif., has been polarizing with skeptics heaping on the criticism and supporters pushing back in kind. Even Tesla fans at the Cybertruck event, which TechCrunch attended, seemed torn with some praising it and others wishing Musk had created something a bit more conventional.

The vehicle made of cold-rolled steel and features armored glass that cracked in one demonstration and an adaptive air suspension.

Tesla said it will offer three variants of the cybertruck. The cheapest version, a single motor and rear-wheel drive model, will cost $39,900, have a towing capacity of 7,500 pounds and more than 250 miles of range. The middle version will be a dual-motor all-wheel drive, have a towing capacity of more than 10,000 pounds and be able to travel more than 300 miles on a single charge. The dual motor AWD model is priced at $49,900.

The third version will have three electric motors and all-wheel drive, a towing capacity of 14,000 pounds and battery range of more than 500 miles. This version, known as “tri motor,” is priced at $69,900.

REPORT: Jeffrey Epstein’s Prison Guards In FBI Custody, Expected To Face Charges Of Falsifying Records

Federal authorities have arrested Michael Thomas and Tova Noel, two of Jeffrey Epstein’s guards at the Manhattan MCC detention center in New York City, and are expected to charge the pair with falsifying records, according to a report from NBC News New York.

Kara Scannell of CNN added that both of the guards were on duty the night Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide by hanging after being left alone and unguarded in his jail cell.

[show_more more=”Continue_Reading…”]

The FBI has been investigating Epstein’s death, though not because of persisting conspiracy theories that suggest Epstein did not hang himself, but rather died as the result of foul play. Federal prosecutors want to know why Epstein was removed from suicide watch and, subsequently, left alone, despite having attempted suicide by hanging just the week before. The FBI was also concerned that two prison guards, assigned to check on Epstein every half hour did not do so, though both guards recording checking on the accused sexual predator every 30 minutes in their official logs.

New York Magazine reported that both guards are said to have fallen asleep during their shifts, but that report has not yet been confirmed. More details are expected when the official charging document is filed with the Federal courts — and when the pair appears in court Tuesday afternoon for their arraignment.

The two guards were told last week that they could face Federal charges but they declined to take a plea bargain, according to Fox News.

“The officers on Epstein’s unit at the federal jail in New York City are suspected of failing to check on him every half-hour, as required, and of fabricating log entries to claim they had. Federal prosecutors offered the guards a plea bargain, but the AP reported Friday that the officers declined the deal,” the outlet said.

The pair, who worked for the New York Bureau of Prisons, were reportedly working overtime because of “staffing shortages” at the Metropolitan Correctional Center where Epstein was being held pending his trial for sexually assaulting and trafficking underaged girls. They were placed on administrative leave pending the possibility of arrest, Fox News said Monday.

The 66-year old money manager was found dead in his cell in early August, apparently having hung himself with strips of cloth cut from his prison bedsheet. A later autopsy confirmed Epstein’s death as suicide by hanging, but details of Epstein’s death, including that he had a broken bone in his throat near his mandible — a break that happens in only 6% of suicides — have caused questions to remain about his death.

Epstein’s brother, last week, announced that he had hired his own team of investigators and medical examiners and planned to sue New York’s Bureau of Prisons.

The Federal government has been intensely interested in Epstein’s death as well, and both the FBI and the Department of Justice have launched investigations into how such a high-value prisoner could have been left alone for so long. Besides the failure of Epstein’s guards, two cameras, focused on Epstein’s cell, reportedly malfunctioned the night of his death.

Official charges are expected Tuesday afternoon. More charges may be forthcoming.

Kitten Found Near Forest All Alone, Climbs on Cyclists and Won’t Let Go

kitten

A couple was out biking when they heard a loud sound coming from the side of the road. They stopped to investigate and found a tiny kitten all alone.

Céline (@tartemadame) and her husband, Daniel (@cycling.dan), were cycling in the countryside of central Brittany, France when they discovered a tiny calico wandering by herself.

“We were on a very quiet road passing through a forest with no houses nearby, when we suddenly heard a loud screeching noise coming from a patch of bracken (fern) on the side of the road,” Céline told Love Meow.

“At first, we thought it was some kind of bird so we stopped and tried to see where the noise was coming from. And there she was, a frightened little kitten, crying.”

The kitten was distressed and didn’t want to come near the couple. Céline lay on the ground and talked to her softly, trying to gain her trust. When the kitty realized that the couple meant no harm, she walked up to Céline and decided that she wanted cuddles.

“She would not leave me. She kept climbing on me (with her claws) and crying,” Céline said. “At that point, we knew we had to try to get her back home.”

It was a long trip home, and there was no safe way to keep the kitten securely stowed in their jerseys as the little one moved constantly. With no other options, the couple decided to rush back home to get their car. After placing the kitten in her hiding spot, they took off, going at the fastest speed possible and hoping that the kitten wouldn’t wander off.

Once they got home, they picked up a box and immediately headed back. “As soon as I got out of the car and called her, she got out of her hiding spot in the ferns and came running towards me,” Céline told Love Meow.

The kitten jumped right into her arms as if she was ready to go home with them. “She spent her first evening giving my husband a thank-you grooming session.”

kitten

They named her Mini Kitty.

Over the next few days, the kitten chowed down all the food she could possibly fit into her belly and rested a ton to make up for lost sleep. She was always next to either Céline or Daniel for security and comfort.

Since then, she’s been the biggest cuddler in the family and would hug anyone and anything snuggly.

kitten

“She is a lovely cat, very friendly and playful. As soon as she hears us getting up, she runs up the stairs to greet us by purring and head butting us,” Céline told Love Meow.

Mini Kitty is equipped with a loud purr motor.

It doesn’t matter who you are, Mini Kitty hugs anyone that could use a cuddle.

kitten

She is the youngest furry member of the family (they have one dog and another cat) and the most cuddly of all.

Mini Kitty snuggles up to her canine buddy for a nap.

The sweet calico is very affectionate and has a personality that would brighten anyone’s day.

Even Piglet needs a hug.

A year later, the kitty is no longer mini, but some things never change.

She still cuddles every day, just the same way she did when they found her near the forest.

Earth Needs Fewer People to Beat the Climate Crisis, Scientists Say

 — Forty years ago, scientists from 50 nations converged on Geneva to discuss what was then called the “CO2-climate problem.” At the time, with reliance on fossil fuels having helped trigger the 1979 oil crisis, they predicted global warming would eventually become a major environmental challenge.

The scientists got to work, building a strategy on how to attack the problem and laying the groundwork for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the world’s preeminent body of climate scientists. Their goal was to get ahead of the problem before it was too late. But after a fast start, the fossil fuel industry, politics and the prioritization of economic growth over planetary health slowed them down.

Now, four decades later, a larger group of scientists is sounding another, much more urgent alarm. More than 11,000 experts from around the world are calling for a critical addition to the main strategy of dumping fossil fuels for renewable energy: there needs to be far fewer humans on the planet.

“We declare, with more than 11,000 scientist signatories from around the world, clearly and unequivocally that planet Earth is facing a climate emergency,” the scientists wrote in a stark warning published Tuesday in the journal BioScience.

Katie Porter: Conservatives Outraged Over Dem Dressing Up As ‘Batman’ On Halloween

Conservatives simply cannot believe Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA) dared to wear a costume on Halloween.

“As House Democrats prepare to officially blow up their Majority with impeachment, @RepKatiePorter is prancing around dressed as Batman,” the National Republican Congressional Committee tweeted on Wednesday. “This is how seriously these clowns are taking impeachment. #CA45”

“They are voting on impeachment and Rep. Katie Porter is wearing a Batman costume,” fumed Carmine Sabia, managing editor for The Federalist.

“Democrat Rep. Katie Porter is making a mockery of the House of Representatives,” complained Steve Guest, the Republican National Committee’s rapid response director.

But multiple reporters confirmed the congresswoman only wore the costume during a Financial Services Committee session, not to the widely anticipated House vote on the impeachment resolution.

Porter shrugged off the outrage.

“Taking my work in Congress seriously doesn’t mean I take *myself* too seriously,” she tweeted. “To my kids Luke, Paul, and Betsy, I’m still just Mom—seeing the Bat Signal on Halloween & putting on a goofy costume come with the territory.”

Earlier in the day, Porter had one other correction for her critics: She’s not dressed as Batman.

“Batgirl,” she told Washington Post reporter Mike DeBonis. “It’s not Batman. It’s Batgirl.”

Deadlifting brides’ wedding picture goes viral

A photo of the nuptials of Brooklyn weightlifting enthusiasts Zeena Hernandez and Lisa Yang won fans across social media.

Soon after exchanging their wedding vows on a dock in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park, Zeena Hernandez and Lisa Yang ditched their shoes and stepped up to an oriental rug.

Using mixed grips, the couple bent down, planted their feet and lifted a 253-pound barbell together for three reps in a tandem deadlift.

“Individually, we are strong capable women, but together we are stronger,” Hernandez, 27, told Women’s Health Magazine — even though each bride can hoist this weight on her own.

After their tandem lift, the brides went back to the altar and exchanged rings on what Hernandez described on Instagram as “the most amazing day of my life.”
